At the beginning of July, our lab members participated in the International Conference on Peptide Materials for Biomedicine and Nanotechnology PepMat.

Monika Wojciechowska gave a great talk Hidden in the Fold: Mining Bacteriophage Endolysins for Stapled Antimicrobial Peptide, and our postdoc, Emil Stefańczyk, presented a poster A Step Towards Peptide-Based Antibiofilm Materials, showing the results of his Miniatura research grant.

From 28 June to 3 July, our PhD Student Piotr Chyży participated in the 75th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting, as one of only seven START stipend laureates selected from Poland.

We are happy to start the collaboration with the Military Institute of Medicine – National Research Institute (WIM-PIB) to work on the project entitled “First hybrid PNA–AAV vectors: combining chemical simplicity with biological intelligence as an innovative platform for the delivery of modified oligonucleotides”. The project has received funding in the UW–WIM-PIB joint research call, supported by the University of Warsaw’s Excellence Initiative – Research University (IDUB).

On July 3–4, 2025, we organized the workshop “PNA and Peptides for Antibacterial Applications”. The event is a part of the project “Advanced Photoluminescent Platform for Bacterial Treatment”, co-funded by the SEED4EU+ program. The project brought together scientists from three European universities: the University of Warsaw, the University of Milan, and Charles University in Prague.

On July 14-17 our post-doc Mateusz Wdowiak participated in the FEMS Micro 2025 conference in Milan, where he presented his findings on peptide nucleic acids. Congratulations on his great talk!
